These Garden Lovers’ Goodie Boxes are the perfect present for nature lovers. They come with a variety of some of our most popular little treats.
They contain the following;
Two packets of homegrown seeds; woad & black cow parsley. Organic, and from my own garden. Woad is a useful dye plant as well as being very ornamental. Black cow parsley is similar to common cow parsley, but instead it has very dark maroon, almost black leaves and much more delicate flowers.
A bird nesting ball. Hang up the bird nesting ball in a sheltered spot outside from February onwards. Birds will come and help themselves to the natural soft materials to help construct and line their nests! Watch for dunnocks, robins, blackbirds, long-tailed tits and especially bluetits. These handmade bird balls are made from super-insulating and soft offcuts which are fully compostable, cotton/linen twine (also fully composable) and recyclable/reuseable metal wire.
Six handmade solid copper ‘herb hooks’. Hand-forged by me in my workshop, these s-shaped copper hooks are around 1.5cm long and are designed to be used when hanging up tied bundles of herbs for drying. Designed to be used in conjunction with the herb hanger drying line (below).
A linen knotted ‘herb hanger’ drying line. Designed to be used in conjunction with the copper herb hooks (above). Made from natural unbleached linen, is designed to be tied up at each end, as in the way of a garland. The Herb Hangers can also be used vertically by only tieing up one end. The Herb Hangers have ten loops knotted into them. The loops are approximately 12cm apart, with at least 45cm clear at each end to tie to your chosen end-points. The linen is extremely strong and unsnappable. I recommend attaching each end with a loose double bow so that after use the Herb Hanger can be easily untied and stored in its box when not in use. The box is adorned with a handwritten label inscribed in green hawthorn ink made to a 19th century recipe. Each Herb Hanger is just over 2m long.
Fragrant dried lavender bag. Organic dried lavender flowers from my own garden contained in a fine teabag-like material bag. Use as a drawer-freshener or throw in the bath!
