This kit contains all the materials and instructions to make two God’s Eyes. Yarn colours and thicknesses differ in each kit, and your colour/yarn selection will be chosen at random. There are five colours in each kit, with at least 20g of yarn.
Also known as Ojos de Dios, these protective amulets originate from Mexican, Peruvian and Latin American communities. They are commonly displayed in homes and workplaces to watch over the inhabitants and keep them safe.
The indigenous Huichol people call these Tsikuri, which means “the power to see and understand things unknown”.
The crossed sticks represent the cardinal directions (North, South, East, West) and the four elements (Earth, Fire, Water, Air). The weaving of the yarn represents Spirit.
The completed God’s Eyes shown in the photos are for illustrative purposes only.
£1.50 from the sale of each Make Your Own God’s Eye Kit will be donated to Pro Mujer. They are a nonprofit social enterprise which has been working to combat gender-based discrimination in Latin American countries and the USA for more than thirty-five years.
Pro Mujer offers a wide range of free or low-cost health and well-being services focused on preventing and providing timely treatment for diseases that primarily impact women. They also support women entrepreneurs with the capital they need to grow and invest in their businesses, and offer women opportunities to learn and strengthen their digital education skills, supporting personal and professional development.
